Requirements

Most of the widgets listed on this website can be implemented using the provided PHP code. These being said, it means that your website must be able to run PHP code. Luckily, most websites run on Apache powered servers, which include the PHP environment. Further to having support for PHP code, there is an extension that should be present in PHP (it usually is installed by default for all hosts – the simplexml extension) and some settings should be turned ON (again, in most cases, even on cheapest shared hosting accounts, these settings are ON; however if the code does not work, contact your hosting support to make sure below settings are turned ON)

  • allow_url_fopen
  • allow_url_include

Below are implementation guidelines based on the web environment

.PHP webpage
If your website file format is .php, you are dealing with a 1 step implementation – copy / paste the widget code in the webpage where you want to show the widget. This should work with no other changes on your end.

.HTML / .HTM webpage
In many cases, websites are built using standard .html / .htm webpages. This format does not natively run PHP code. This means that besides copy/pasting the widget code in the webpage, you will also need to add a setting in your .htaccess file in the root of your website. The setting we recommend is listed below, but please note it may have syntax variations from a web hosting to another. If the code below does not work for you, browse your hosting FAQ or contact support for correct settings.

AddType application/x-httpd-php .html .htm
WordPress platform
If you are using WordPress platform to run your website, you will have to install a plugin like a href=”https://wordpress.org/plugins/insert-php/” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>CodeSnippets. This plugin allows you to add and run PHP code within your posts and pages. Please note that due to the syntax of PHP code, you must add the widget code along with the plugin shortcodes when in Text view (when editing your post/page you have two options: Visual and Text. Text must be used for adding the code and saving the page. Once saved, do not push to Visual again as it will alter your widget code. Please read the implementation guidelines from the plugin).

Joomla platform
If you are using Joomla platform to run your website, you will have to install an extension like Sourcerer. This extension allows you to add and run PHP code within your articles. Please read the implementation guidelines from the extension.
